<<With PITSS.CON the migration of all Oracle Forms applications takes on average only 3 days. This applies to character Forms 3.0 applications as well as client server Forms versions 4.5, 5, 6cs or 6i.>>
Migration Professional Services
The PITSS GmbH realizes in Professional Services in the field Oracle Forms,
the migration of existing forms besed on the services offered.
The offered migration is done tooloriented ( PITSS.CON ) based on a service
offer which uses a solitaer user licenze for running PITSS.CON.
Based on experiences made by PITSS GmbH within several migration projects, the
price for the migration can easily be established. Example: Migration of Forms
3, 4.5, 6i, 9i/10g.
You can inform yourself about the experience of the customers in different migration
projects by reading the chapter downloads.

Migration ORACLE Forms 3.0 to ORACLE 6i in 7 phases with the PITSS.CON Migration
Assistant
Migration Assistant
Phase 1: Migration Forms
In this phase the standard ORACLE process IFCMP60 a Forms 3.0 program transforms
it into a Fragmented Forms 6i Program.
Phase 2: Change Graphics To Display Items
In this phase all the Graphic-Objects of typ text are read. (Boilerplate-Text)
Display Items are generated which allow an easy way to maintain the input field
labels.
The generation of a multilingual application in later times is also offered
by the system.
Phase 3: Change Coordinate System
This phase serves in a migration to transform Forms-Moduls from a Character-Mode
into a Real-Mode.
Phase 4: Adjust Windows
This is a necessary step to represent the former alphanumerical Forms-Modules
in the new Windows environment.
The problem is that the representation of the pages in former Forms 3 application
overlapped.
The pages become independent windows by the standard ORACLE process IFCMP 60,
but their display in the Forms-Version 6i can not run analog. Forms 6i know
for such functionalities the objects Canvases.
In order to maintain the functionality of the original application, the Forms
3 Windows must become Canvases in only one Window.
Phase 5: Reference Object-Library Standards
This phase serves for the predefinition library. This library can contain for
example toolbars, scrollbars and farther objects. The migration way preferred
by PITSS GmbH uses this phase in order to bring new functionality and graphical
definitions. This objects and attributes conduct central the screen design of
the new Forms 6.i Application.
Phase 6: Attach Mouse Navigation
In this phase the functionality of the mouse-navigation is added to the new
Forms 6.i Application.
The triggers of the forms modules are modified as necessary and new triggers
and program units are implemented.
Phase 7: Create FMX-Files
In this phase FMB-Dateien are compiled and the executable FMX-file are generated.
Example
PITSS.CON uses for the conversion of the Forms 3.0 programs (pic1) the standard
Oracle process ifcmp60. The display of the original forms masks (pic.2) caused
by the standard conversion is corrected
by PITSS.CON in one step, so that the visual display is granted again.(pic.3).
The user can get along with this new graphical environment, because of the work
mode and the operation is remains the same for him.

A specialty used voluntary in a character oriented interface, was the
overflow of two fields placed one near the other. But this is not guaranteed
in case of a graphical mode in optical deepened or elevated fields. |
