German Customs Investigations Bureau (ZKA) chooses PITSS.CON

Cologne, 08.08.2007 – The German Customs Investigation Bureau (ZKA), the central headquarters of the German customs investigation department, is to migrate its client server-based Oracle Forms application to Web Forms with PITSS.CON.

The German Customs Investigation Bureau (ZKA), formed in 1992 from the Customs Investigation Institution and based in Cologne, is the central headquarters of the German customs investigation department. Its main area of responsibility is the monitoring and prevention of semi-serious, serious and organised customs crime. The ZKA coordinates and steers the investigations of the customs investigations offices under its control. The ZKA also supports the customs administration section in securing tax revenues (e.g. customs duties, tobacco tax), monitoring collective funding (e.g. export subsidies), monitoring foreign trade (e.g. to prevent the illegal transfer of technology), uncovering violations of bans and restrictions, such as narcotics crime, brand and product piracy, arms smuggling and the stipulations of the Washington Agreement on the Protection of Species. The ZKA also maintains criminal technology and criminology departments and is the central headquarters of the customs administration department for collaboration with foreign services, the European Commission and other supranational organisations.
